| All puppies look cute and that is why everyone wants one. But there is a lot of responsibilty that goes with whatever dog you pick. Unless there are extreme circumstances this is a lifetime comittment between owner and dog. So don`t be shocked or alarmed when a breeder asks you many, many questions, after all it is like one of their children that you are going to raise. Every breeder will supply you with the information that you will need, such as what the feed and grooming tips, training and so on. With our wolfhounds we have always feed a high quality food and also a lot of natural diet. Look for a good pet shop, we have one in our area, Natural Pets and they are always up on what ever is new or better for the dogs.

| These wonderful Irish Dogs, or any dog for that matter should never end up in a pound or shelter. Almost any breeder will be glad to take the dog back and try to rehome it if you contact them. And there is also many good rescue programs that the various breeds sponser, so please use them. These loving animals give us so much and ask for so very little in return, so we must look out for the best for them. If you have a problem like in training one of these dogs, find someone that may be close to you and I`m sure that they will be more than willing to help assist you. There is a certain amount of work and care that is involved with owing a pet and we must give them all the care and help that is needed and provide the best for them, whereas they will give you a lifetime of love and devotion.

| When you decide what kind of dog you want I would suggest that you find a book or 2 about the breed and then go to one of the dog shows around. Wait until after the breed that you are interested in is done being shown and then go and talk to the owners, they will be more than glad to answer any questions you might have. If possible try to arrange to go visit someone who has one of the dogs that you are interested in and see how the dog is in their home. Once again ask questions. I myself have had wolfhounds for almost 12yrs and with talking to different owners and chating with people in the wolfhound chat rooms learn something new quite often. These chat rooms exsist for all of the breeds so you have many choices. And it is also a very good way of making many new friends that are always willing to help if needed.
